On October 7, 2014, the Belo Horizonte City Council hosted a moving ceremony during which Rosa Brambilla was awarded the Honorary Citizenship of Belo Horizonte in recognition of her lifelong dedication to education and to the children, adolescents, and families served by Obras Educativas Padre Giussani.

The ceremony brought together children, young people, families, friends, and educators in a heartfelt celebration of gratitude and joy. Visibly moved, Rosa said she accepted the honor on behalf of everyone who had walked alongside her in building the organization. She also recalled her life-changing encounter with Father Luigi Giussani, whose example taught her to embrace reality and recognize the dignity and humanity of every person.

In her acceptance speech, Rosa said:

"I was deeply moved to receive such an honor. Even with trembling hands, I said yes to this recognition because I know that I represent the many people who have walked this journey and built this work with me."

As Consul Aurora Russi, quoted in Passos magazine once said:

"Rosa would not be the same without Belo Horizonte, and Belo Horizonte would not be the same without Rosa."

The Honorary Citizenship of Belo Horizonte reaffirms Rosa Brambilla's lifelong commitment and the lasting legacy of a life marked by love, presence, and service to the community.
