On May 9, another Fathers' Gathering was held at the Etelvina Caetano de Jesus Early Childhood Center, led by our friend and volunteer, Douglas.
The conversation began with a question that encouraged everyone to reflect: "What is your value within your family?" From this starting point, the men shared personal experiences, challenges, and situations from their daily lives, leading to a meaningful dialogue that continued well beyond the scheduled time.
The meeting was marked by attentive and sincere listening. Each participant had the opportunity to speak about his own struggles, responsibilities, and the way he faces the challenges of family life. Throughout the discussion, reflections emerged on the importance of being present in the lives of one's children, the desire to seek the good of the family, respect for the freedom of others, and the pursuit of greater self-awareness.
During the conversation, Douglas emphasized that the goal was not to provide clear-cut answers, but to encourage a process of reflecting on one's own reality—an invitation for each participant to look at his own life story, recognize his own worth, and rediscover the importance of his presence within the family.
Gatherings like this reaffirm the importance of creating welcoming spaces for fathers to share and engage in dialogue. In everyday life, fathers also have questions, struggles, and needs, and the Obras Educativas provide a place where they can find listening, mutual support, and opportunities for personal growth.
We thank the team at the Etelvina Caetano de Jesus Early Childhood Center for organizing this meaningful event, and we extend our special gratitude to Douglas, who continues to walk alongside us with generosity in this journey of accompanying and supporting fathers.
